A teenager who died following a crash involving a car and motorcycle near a cemetery in Wick has been named.

Emergency services were called to the scene of of a crash involving a grey Yamaha motorcycle and a red Renault Clio on the B874 near to Watten Cemetery at around 10.25pm on Wednesday.

The rider of the motorbike, an 18-year-old man, was taken to Caithness General Hospital where he later died.

He has been named as Luc Trainer, 18, from the Newton area of Wick. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested following the crash.  He has been released pending further enquiries.

The road was closed while investigations were ongoing and re-opened about 6.55am on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay, Road Policing Unit, Dingwall, said: “We are supporting Luc’s family at this very difficult time. They are very much in our thoughts.

“If you have any information that may assist officers with their investigation, please call 101 quoting incident number 4119 of Wednesday, 30 April, 2025.”
