Two men have been charged after the same property was set on fire within four days in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to reports of a blaze at the Mansfield Estate in Tain at around 4.25am on Thursday, July 10.

Officers were also called to another blaze at the housing estate on Sunday, July 13.

Police Scotland said officers are keeping an open mind as to whether the fires are linked.

Two men, aged 19 and 40, have been arrested and charged in connection with the first blaze.

They are due to appear at Tain Sheriff Court at a later date in connection.

The force is urging anyone with information regarding the incidents to come forward.

Detective inspector Calum Reid said: “Enquiries are ongoing into both incidents, and I’d ask anyone with information to come forward.

“I’d also ask anyone with dash-cam, doorbell or private CCTV footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.

“We appreciate how concerning these incidents have been for the local community in Tain. We want residents to be assured that we are investigating these fires and are determined to find those responsible.
