A teenager has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was serious assaulted in a bar in Inverness.
Emergency services were called to Johnny Foxes, on Bank Street, at around 12.40am on Sunday after reports of a 20-year-old being seriously assaulted, with glass involved in the attack.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury.
An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged and appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.
He was charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.
The teenager made no plea and was released on bail.
He will next appear in court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a disturbance within licensed premises on Bank Street in Inverness shortly after 12.40am on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
“A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury.
“An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday, April 14 2025.”
Johnny Foxes was shut on Sunday as police carried out enquiries, before reopening at 5pm.
A statement from the venue read: “As many of you will be aware, there was a serious assault in our venue last night and we are assisting the Police with their ongoing enquiries.
“We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the police officers and the paramedics who attended this incident and appreciate all their assistance and support.
“We will not be opening until 5pm and we thank you for understanding at this time.”
