A suspect has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a 21-year-old man who was found seriously injured on an Inverness street.
Police said the assault happened on Madras Street in the city at around 11.20pm on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was found seriously injured on Telford Street a short while later and was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
John Ryan appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday charged with assault to severe injury, danger to life and attempted murder.
The 53-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody to be committed for further examination.
He is due to appear in court again in the next eight days.
