A major road in the Highlands has been closed following a serious early morning crash.
Police received reports of the incident on the A9, Slochd summit near the Carrbridge junction at around 4.15am on Friday morning.
The A9 is closed in both directions between Inverness and Carrbridge and Traffic Scotland urged road users to follow diversions and expect delays.
Road users both north and southbound are facing diversions of almost 19 miles.
Emergency services remain at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15am on Friday, September 30, 2022, police received a report of a serious road crash on the A9, near the Carrbridge junction.
“Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is currently closed between Inverness and Carrbridge.
“Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
