Search efforts continue after a yacht capsized in Sutherland on Saturday.
HM Coastguard confirmed they completed an “extensive” search after receiving reports of debris washing ashore in Strathan Bay, near Lochinver.
As the search enters it’s third day a spokesperson for the HM Coastguard said that the search efforts are being “assessed”.
Police Scotland was made aware of the reports around midday on Saturday and said that enquiries into the incident are “ongoing”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.30pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024, we were made aware of a capsized yacht at Strathan Bay, Lochinver.
“Emergency services attended, including HM Coastguard and RNLI.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
A spokesperson for the HM Coastguard said: “We have completed an extensive maritime and shoreline search of the area following a report of debris washing ashore from a suspected yacht in Strathan Bay, near Lochinver, on January 5.
“Search efforts are currently being assessed. For further details, please contact Police Scotland.”
