Schoolgirl injured in fall after climbing frame broke away from wall

Highland Council said the gym hall had been closed to allow an investigation into the incident to take place.

A pupil was injured and taken to hospital after a climbing frame structure broke at an Isle of Skye primary school.

The child, believed to be a female student at the Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh, in Portree, had a serious fall when the climbing frame came off the wall on October 25.

She was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

Highland Council said the gym hall had been closed in the meantime to allow an investigation into the incident to take place.

A spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a serious incident which had taken place last week at Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh when the climbing frame came off the wall and injured one of our pupils.

“The pupil is now recovering well and we wish them a speedy recovery.

“The gym hall will be out of use for the meantime while we investigate the circumstances of the incident and to identify any required action.”
