A schoolboy has been charged with the alleged serious assault of a 62-year-old man in a Highland town.

Emergency services were called to High Street in Ardersier after receiving reports of an attack at around 8.10pm on Friday, September 27.

The 62-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

The 14-year-old boy is due to be reported to the Youth Justice Management Department in connection with the incident. Investigations to identify others involved are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Duncan Jones said: “Our enquiries remain are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this to contact us.

“We also ask anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to come forward.”
