Russell Crowe confirms Scottish gig as Gladiator star invited to Highland games

The Holywood star previously explained his Scottish ancestry as a descendant of 11th Lord Lovat Simon Fraser.

Russell Crowe has announced a tour that will see his band play five shows across the UK and Ireland this summer.

The Gladiator actor took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to confirm the shows which include a date in Inverness.

The actor’s band, named Indoor Garden Party, will also play shows in Dublin, Warrington, London, and Leeds.

Specific dates and venues for the show have yet to be confirmed but Crowe confirmed they will take place across July 2024.

The news comes after the Oscar winner, who is related to 11th Lord Lovat Simon Fraser, initially teased a potential Inverness show, saying: “What about a gig in Inverness?

“Any Fraser of Lovat relatives want to come?”

Inverness Provost Glynis Campbell Sinclair responded to the post inviting Crowe to play at the Inverness Highland Games to meet some distant relatives.

The councillor released a statement about the “fabulous news”, saying: “Time to dust off that kilt Russell and we really look forward to welcoming you at the Inverness Highland Games on July 13.

“Get in touch and let us know what you need to make this visit really special.”
