Police have launched an investigation after two vehicles were torched in the early hours of the morning in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to Caplich Hill in Alness around 2.40am on Sunday morning following reports of two vehicles which had been set on fire.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and there were no reports of any injuries.

Police believe the fires were deliberate and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Kevin Byrne said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the fire to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which could assist our investigation.
