Police have released images of a man they want to trace in connection with a “serious assault” in Inverness city centre last year.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene on Church Street shortly after 12.10am on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 following the incident in which another individual suffered a “serious injury”.

An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack, with officers carrying out initial enquiries at the time.

CCTV images have now been circulated in an attempt to locate a man, thought to be in his early 20’s, who officers believe may be able to assist in the probe.

He is described as being around 5ft 11 inches in height, with a slim build and short dark hair.

He was understood to be wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and blue trainers at the time of the incident.

Detective constable Pamela Dugdale, of Inverness CID, said: “I would urge the male, or anyone who has information relating to the male depicted in this image, to make contact with the police.”

DC Dugdale added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact with police at Inverness CID via 101 quoting reference number 0017 of December 1, 2021.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed on anonymously.”
