Police Scotland has confirmed it investigated a report of a sexual assault at the late Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed’s Highland estate.
It comes as multiple ex-Harrods employees have accused Al Fayed, the Egyptian billionaire who owned the luxury department store for more than 25 years, of rape and sexual assault.
More than 20 women have come forward with allegations of assault and physical violence at properties in London and Paris as part of a special investigation.
Five women alleged they had been raped by Mr Al Fayed, the BBC reported.
Al Fayed, who died in 2023, bought Balnagowan Estate, north of Invergordon, in 1972.
Police have confirmed they investigated a report of a “non-recent sexual assault” at the Highland estate, and confirmed that if new information is reported, enquiries will reopen.
A spokesperson said: “Following an investigation into a report of a non-recent sexual assault that took place in Scotland, enquiries are now complete.
“However, should new information be obtained or reported to police, then further enquiries will be carried out.”
Harrods’ current owners said they are “utterly appalled” by the allegations of abuse perpetrated by the late billionaire, adding: “As a business we failed our employees who were his victims and for this we sincerely apologise.”
