A schoolgirl who disappeared in the Highlands more than 24 hours ago has been traced “safe and well”.

Zara Cross was last seen in the Boarstone Avenue area of Inverness around 8.15am on Monday morning.

Police said on Tuesday evening she had been traced safe and well.

Officers thanked members of the public for their help.
