Police are appealing for information following a crash in North Uist which left a man dead and another in hospital.
Officers were called to the A867 at Loch A’Bhruid to reports of a crash between a black Mercedes A Class and a black Kia Ceed around 8.55pm on Wednesday.
Emergency services attended, and the driver of the Kia, a 43-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, where he died a short time later.
A 36-year-old man was taken to Benbecula Hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for around 24 hours for investigations and reopened around 9pm on Thursday.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died at this difficult time.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to any witnesses to contact us.
“We’d also ask anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.”
