Police say physical searches have been called off for a teenager missing from Stornoway who was last seen over two weeks ago.
Aleksandr Benga was last seen around 8.45am on Monday, November 18, 2024 near to the water wheel within the Lewis Castle grounds.
The 16-year-old is described by police as 6ft 2in tall and of slim build with short brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a beige jumper and black jeans, and police say he had a yellow beanie hat with him.
Specialist search officers from Aberdeen and Inverness travelled to the island to assist with the extensive searches, and partner agencies provided support.
His mother, Viktoria Benga, took to social media to reveal a scam fundraiser had been set up in the search for her son.
She wrote: “Not me or my family haven’t set anything at this present moment. Do not send money to anyone for this matter. Please be aware.”
Police are urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward as officers continue work to identify his movements.
However officers said physical searches have now concluded for the teenager.
Inspector Euan Cowan said: “Aleksandr Benga, 16, was last seen around 8.45am on Monday, November 18, 2024 in the Lewis Castle area of Stornoway.
“Despite extensive enquiries and rigorous searches involving a number of local and national specialist police resources, Aleksandr remains a missing person.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time and we remain in regular contact with them.
“Physical searches have now concluded, however we will continue to review all available information and act on any new details which are passed to police.
“Please bring any information to our attention by calling 101, quoting incident 0803 of November 18, 2024.”
