Person airlifted to hospital among four injured in 'multi-vehicle' crash on A9

A person was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary while three others were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

One person has been airlifted to hospital and a further three taken for treatment after a crash reportedly involving four vehicles closed the A9.

Police Scotland warned drivers the major road was closed in both directions north of Kingussie at Lynchat with the collision taking place at 12.15pm on Wednesday.

A person was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary while three others were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

All other patients involved in the crash were discharged by four ambulance crews, as well as an air ambulance and trauma team being sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 12.07pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A9, near Kingussie.

“We dispatched multiple resources to the scene including four ambulances, one air ambulance, and one trauma team to the scene.

“One patient was transported via air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and three patients were transported to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.”

A Police Scotland statement read: “The A9 is closed in both directions two miles north of Kingussie following a road crash that we were called to around 12.15pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

“Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to take an alternative route.”
