Pensioners taken to hospital after three-vehicle crash on A9

Two pensioners have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash on the A9.

A 96-year-old man and 94-year-old woman, the driver and passenger of a blue Ford Fiesta, were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

The collision happened south of Aviemore around 3.55pm on Sunday, near the junction for the B9152.

In addition to the fiesta, a black Volkswagen Transporter and a black Citroen DS3 were involved in the crash.

The occupants of the Volkswagen and Citroen were uninjured.

The road is currently closed so an investigation can be carried out.

Sergeant Alisdair Mackay said: “Enquiries into this crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to police to contact us.

“We are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen any of the vehicles prior to the crash and has dashcam footage to please check and come forward with anything which may be relevant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
