A 91-year-old man has died following a crash involving two cars in Nairn.

The pensioner was walking when the collision happened near the junction of Thurlow Road and Seafield Street on Thursday, January 21.

Police were called to the crash, which involved a black Mazda, red Honda and the 91-year-old at around 4.50pm.

The pedestrian, who was seriously injured, was taken to Raigmore Hospital but has since died.

Police sergeant Alasdair MacKay, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “The man was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment for serious injuries and has now passed away.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are still appealing for information surrounding the crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.”
