A supermarket in Orkney is giving away boxes of bananas for free after a glitch saw the delivery of 38,000 by mistake.
The Tesco in Kirkwall received 380 boxes, each containing around 100 pieces of fruit.
A spokesperson said the store has been giving the bananas away to community groups and schools.
Most of the surplus fruit has been given away.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “Due to an over order of bananas to our Kirkwall Superstore, colleagues have been inviting local schools and community groups to collect the fruit to redistribute locally.”
In 2024, a shop in Orkney ordered more Easter eggs than the local island population.
Sinclair General Store, on the island of Sanday, set out to order 80 chocolate eggs but requested 80 cases by accident.
The shop ended up with 720 eggs in stock for an island with a population of around 500 people.
Owner Dan Dafydd made the blunder but went on to raise £6,000 for charity by raffling off the treats.
