The coastguard has resumed the search for a diver who went missing in the Scapa Flow area of Orkney on Wednesday.

The coastguard has resumed the search for a missing diver in Orkney.

The alarm was raised at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, and HM Coastguard sent search and rescue helicopters to the Scapa Flow area.

Rescue teams from Kirkwall, Hoy and St Margaret’s also combed the area, alongside lifeboats from Longhope and Thurso.

HM Coastguard stood down operations at around 3am on Thursday, however, Police Scotland confirmed on Sunday, that search operations have resumed.

Police Scotland’s Marine and Dive Unit will arrive in Orkney on Monday to assist with the operation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Coastguard searches have resumed today, Sunday, December 1, 2024 and Police Scotland’s Marine and Dive Unit will arrive in Orkney on Monday to assist with searching.”
