An investigation has been launched after a person died in a house fire in Shetland.
Fire appliances from Brae, Hillswick and Scalloway were called to a property in Ollaberry at around 1.15pm on Monday and the blaze was extinguished around 4.25pm.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A joint investigation between Police Scotland and the SFRS has been launched to establish the circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.15pm on Monday, September 29, 2025, we received a report of a fire at a property in Ollaberry, Shetland.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished around 4.25pm.
“One person has been pronounced dead at the scene and formal identification is yet to take place.
“A joint investigation to establish the full circumstances will be carried out.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1.05pm on September 29 to attend an incident at Gluss Ayre, near Ollaberry. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene.”
