A motorcyclist who died following a crash with a car on the Isle of Lewis has been named.
Emergency services were called to the A857 Ness to Stornoway road near New Park, Newmarket, around 4.40pm on Saturday, to reports of a crash involving a silver MG and a black BMW S1000 RS motorcycle.
The 56-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Western Isles Hospital, where he died.
He has now been named as Roland Crichton from Mull. There were no other injuries.
The 44-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.
Police sergeant Scott MacDonald said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Crichton’s family at this incredibly sad time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who has not already spoken to police and has information they believe may assist is as to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage that could assist to get in touch.”
