Motorcyclist in hospital with 'life-threatening injuries' after crash with lorry near Commando Memorial

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital following a crash with a lorry in the Highlands.

The crash occurred on the A82 road near the Commando Memorial, at around 6.40pm on Monday, August 10.

It involved a grey BMW GS850 motorbike with distinctive yellow wheels and a white Scania R450 lorry.

Police and ambulance attended the scene and the 37-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William.

He sustained life-threatening injuries but is described as stable. The lorry driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and reopened around 1.15am on Tuesday.

Sergeant Chris Donaldson said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we area appealing for information that could assist with our investigation.

“We are asking anyone in the area who saw what happened to get in touch.

“In particular, if you were driving in the area around the time of the crash please check any dash-cam footage you have to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
