Police are trying to track down whoever threatened lives by suspending a metal bar from a bridge over the A9 in the Highlands.

The incident happened at the Raigmore interchange on the outskirts of Inverness in the early hours of Tuesday March 31.

There are no reports of anyone being injured as a result of the act.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called around 3.05am (Tuesday, March 31) following a report that a piece of rope with an attachment had been draped over the handrail of an overbridge at the Raigmore Interchange, Inverness.

“Officers attended and the item was removed. Inquiries are ongoing to trace the people responsible for placing it there.”
