A medical ward in Stornoway has been shut to new admissions due to cases of Covid being linked to the facility.
In a bid to prevent the spread of the virus outbreak, which occurred at Medical Ward Two in the Western Isles Hospital, the ward has been closed to medical admissions until further notice.
Visiting will be restricted on the ward over the weekend and those wishing to attend have been urged to contact staff to plan ahead.
Anyone feeling unwell has been urged not to visit.
NHS Highland say a ‘Problem Assessment Group’ has been set up to ensure necessary measures are in place.
A health board statement said: “All visitors to the hospital are reminded to hand sanitise on entry to the hospital and again when entering/leaving a clinical area and to wear a surgical mask (provided) for the duration of your visit.”
