A large-scale search was launched in a Highlands village on Tuesday after reports of a man carrying a firearm.
Police were called to Farr, near Inverness, at around 11.35am on April 25 following the report.
Armed officers were part of the response team which attended and searched the area – however, no one was traced or arrested in connection.
At around 8pm on Tuesday, Police Scotland confirmed the call had been false, but with “good intent”.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 11.35 am on Tuesday, April 25, police were called to a report of a man carrying what was believed to be a firearm in Farr, near Inverness.
“Officers attended and enquiries were carried out.
“This was found to be a false call with good intent.”
