A man has been taken to hospital following a serious crash that closed a 30-mile stretch of road for four hours.

The one-vehicle collision happed on the A828 on the west coast of Scotland at around 5.36pm on Monday.

Emergency services attended and closed the road in both directions between Connel in Argyll and Bute to South Ballachulish in the Highlands.

Diversions were put in place while investigation works were carried out.

The road eventually reopened at around 9.40pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police and ambulance were called at around 5.36pm.

“One vehicle was involved.

“A man was taken to hospital.

“The road has now reopened.”
