Man dies and second taken to hospital after road crash in Kirk, Caithness on B876 Google Maps

A man has died following a road crash in Caithness.

The collision happened just before 10am on Sunday on the B876 in Kirk near the junction with the B870.

The crash involved a black Mazda 2 and a blue Seat Ateca.

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later named him as 47-year-old Kevin Campbell who is from the area.

The driver of the Seat, also a 47-year-old man, was taken to Caithness General Hospital and released following treatment for a minor injury.

The passenger, a 17-year-old male, was not injured.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and his family have asked for privacy.

“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and has information that could assist to get in touch.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1062 of Sunday, December 3.
