A man has died after falling overboard from a fishing boat in the Outer Hebrides.
The alarm was raised at around 4.15am on Thursday after the men fell from the foreign registered vessel when it was around 45 nautical miles north of the Butt of Lewis.
The HM coastguard helicopter attended and a body was recovered from the water a short time later.
All other crew were uninjured and police say a full investigating will now be carried out.
A spokesman for the force said: “We can confirm a man has died following an incident on a fishing boat near the Western Isles.
“We will liaise with the appropriate authorities as an investigation is carried out.”
