A man has died after being pulled from the waters of the Beauly Firth near Inverness.

Emergency services, including the Kessock RNLI Lifeboat, were dispatched just after 1pm on Monday, August 17.

STV News understands that a search-and-rescue helicopter was circling the area near North Kessock.

Police were also on scene and have confirmed a man was pulled from the water and was taken to hospital where he later died.

His death is being treated as “unexplained” and his next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson said: “Around 3.10pm a man was recovered from the Beauly Firth on Monday, August 17. 

“He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but was pronounced dead a short time later. His next of kin have been informed. 

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.”
