Man charged with dangerous driving after ‘speeding at 143mph’

Road policing officers stopped a 23-year-old driver of a black VW Golf just north of Inverness on Friday.

A man has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly speeding at 143mph on the A9.

Road policing officers stopped a 23-year-old driver of a black VW Golf at Arpafeelie, just north of Inverness, at around 10.30pm on Friday.

Officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the car to come forward and are encouraging those with dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Sergeant Davie Miller from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Team said: “Driving at inappropriate speeds can have catastrophic consequences and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the black VW Golf to get in touch with us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number NE2725/20.”
