A man has been charged with animal cruelty offences after two cats were found by their owners with serious injuries caused by a crossbow bolt.
Police in Kingussie were seen to have carried out a dawn raid on an address near the high street on Thursday morning.
Officers have now confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested and has been charged in connection with animal cruelty offences.
One of the cats survived following treatment from a vet, but the other died.
The man who was charged is due to appear in court on Friday, July 29.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with animal cruelty offences in the Kingussie area.
“The incidents included offences between Monday, 18 July, and Friday, 22 July in the Kerrow Drive of the area, when two cat owners found their cats with serious injuries caused by a crossbow bolt.
“One of the cats survived following treatment from a vet, but the other died.
“The man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday, 29 July, 2022.”
