Man charged after body of 21-year-old found in house

A man has been charged in connection with a death in Orkney on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to a property on Marengo Road, South Ronaldsay, at around 7.35am after reports that a man was badly hurt.

Medical staff attended and the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force confirmed a 49-year-old man had been charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Kirkwall Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man at a property on Marengo Road, Orkney around 7.35am on Sunday, June 19, 2022.”
