Man and teenage boy found dead in burnt out car named

A man and a teenage boy found dead in a burnt-out car after it crashed near Fort William have been named.

Emergency services were called to the A830 at Corpach at around 3am on Saturday, February 21, after receiving reports of a car on fire.

The blue Vauxhall Astra was involved in a single-vehicle crash at around 1.45am, police said.

The bodies of David Allan Mackay, 44, and Kai Mathieson, 16, were found inside.

Detectives said enquiries were continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died in this crash. We ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

“I would again appeal to anyone who was driving on the A830 in the early hours of February 21, and hasn’t already spoke to police, to please come forward.

“If you witnessed anything which may help or have relevant dash-cam footage around the time, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible.”
