A man is in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital following a crash involving a car and a pickup truck.
Police are appealing for information after the two vehicles collided at around 1.45pm on the A9 near Aviemore on Tuesday, March 5 near to Lynwilg.
A 60-year-old male driver of a blue Skoda Octavia was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Medical staff described the man, who was the sole occupant of the car, as in “critical” condition.
A 17-year-old male driver of a white Toyota Hilux pickup was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Medical staff advised that his condition is stable.
The road was re-opened at around at 9.30pm.
Sergeant Calum Macaulay, Roads Policing Unit, Dingwall, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone, not yet spoke to by police, who was on the road and either witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage of the incident.”
Information can be passed to officers via 101 quoting incident number 1712 of Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1.15pm on March 5 2024 to attend a road traffic collision on the A9.
“We dispatched three ambulances, one critical care paramedic, our trauma team and two air ambulances to the scene.
“One patient was transported by road to Raigmore Hospital and one patient was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
