A man has been airlifted to hospital after a crash involving a pedestrian and a motorcycle in the Highlands.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on the A836 near Invershin at around 11.30am on Wednesday, July 19.

Three ambulances, a trauma team and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that one male patient in his 40s was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His condition is currently unknown.

Police said the road has been closed in both directions, between Bonar Bridge and Lairg, and local diversions are in place.

A spokesperson for the SAS said: “We received a call today at 11.37am to attend an incident in the Lairg area.

“We dispatched three ambulances, our trauma team and an air ambulance to the scene. We airlifted one male patient in their 40s to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.30am on Wednesday, July 19, we were called to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian on the A836 near Invershin.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed in both directions between Bonar Bridge and Lairg.

“Local diversions are in place and the public are asked to avoid the area at this time.”
