A man, 86, has died following a crash between a car and a van on the A9.
Emergency services were called to the road at Tarlogie near Tain, at around 5.15pm on Saturday after a collision involving a white Peugeot 208 and a white Renault Master Luton van.
The driver of the Peugeot, an 86-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is aware.
A 41-year-old man, the driver of the van, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 3.25am on Sunday.
Sergeant Chris Donaldson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam that could assist to get in touch.”
