Google MapsA man has died following a one-vehicle crash in Shetland.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Bridge End, near Burra, at around 8.50pm on Thursday evening.
An 83-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been notified.
The road was closed to allow for crash investigation work to be carried out and reopened around 5.40pm on Friday.
Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened, or who was travelling in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, to contact us.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3502 of April 2, 2026.”
