Lifeboat volunteers were called out after a campervan crashed off a slipway into the sea off the Isle of Skye.

A team from the Kyle of Lochalsh Lifeboat were called to the scene at the Kylerhea at around 11.40am on Wednesday.

Within just 10 minutes of arrival, volunteers found the van lying on its side, and the crew checked to ensure there were no casualties injured or trapped inside.

It was established the occupant and their three dogs were unharmed, and the lifeboat returned to its base in Kyle.

Norman Finlayson, Helm at Kyle RNLI said: “The emergency services received multiple reports of a campervan having entered the water in the Kylerhea narrows area, which is a stretch of water with extremely strong currents.

“We launched as quickly as possible, and when we arrived on scene, were glad to see that there was nobody trapped inside the vehicle, and the occupant and his 3 dogs were safely ashore.”
