Police are hunting for a man who attempted to rob a driver at gunpoint in Inverness.
The victim was in a vehicle on Lochalsh Road around 9pm on Friday when he was approached by a man and threatened with what was believed to be a firearm.
The driver left the scene and there were no injuries.
Armed police were sent to the scene and a search of the area was carried out with enquiries ongoing.
The man is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and was wearing a dark coloured rain jacket with the hood up and a grey coloured scarf covering his face.
Detective Constable Pamela Dugdale said: “I’d like to reassure the public, we have extra patrols in the area for reassurance and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
“As we continue to try to trace this man, I’d ask for any information which may assist.
“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened or anyone acting suspiciously?
“Do you have dashcam footage or private CCTV which may have captured something of significance?
“If you do, please get in touch.”
