Hundreds of homes in the Highlands have been left without power after a fault on the main network.
At around 6am on Thursday, properties in the West Highlands, north of Lochinver, were hit with a power outage that affected 282 homes.
The properties affected stretch from Clachtoll north to the Old Man of Stoer, and east through Drumbeg and Nedd as far as the B869 and A894 junction.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said the cut was due to a fault on it’s overhead network.
Supply is expected to be restored at around 9.30am.
A spokesperson for SSEN said: “We’re sorry about the power cut in the area. The power cut is affecting 282 properties in the area shown on the map. We are working with our engineers to fix the problem as quickly as possible, and will keep you updated here on Power Track.
“Engineers are on the way and will arrive in the area at 08:00 18/09/2025. When they get there, they’ll work hard to fix the problem as quickly as possible. We’ll keep you updated with any new information. At this stage, we’re aiming to have your power back on by 09:30 18/09/2025.
“The cause of this power cut is a fault on our overhead network. This is the most common type of fault we see, and our teams are very experienced in dealing with these issues. In most cases, our engineers are able to get your power back on by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however, if the fault is severe, this may take us longer to fix. If this does happen, we will let you know.
