A horse on the Isle of Skye had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a septic tank.
Emergency services were called to reports of a trapped animal in the Lower Milovaig area of the island at around 4pm on Sunday, October 2.
O’Malley, a 35-year-old Irish Cob, had his hind leg stuck in the tank and had to be helped out by volunteer firefighters from Dunvegan Community Fire Station.
Crews worked with neighbours and a local vet and were able to free O’Malley using a neighbour’s digger and canvas strops wrapped underneath him.
Station commander Karla Stevenson said: “Incidents like this demonstrate the variety of emergencies our skilled and dedicated on call firefighters can be called to attend.
“It also highlights the valuable contribution they make to our communities across the country.
“I would like to thank our crews for their professionalism to bring the incident to a safe and swift conclusion.
“We are glad to see O’Malley happy and back in his field.”
