Some of Hollywood’s biggest names took home a taste of Scotland after a whisky distilled in the Outer Hebrides was selected for the Golden Globes’ ultimate gift bag.
Isle of Harris Distillery was chosen to feature in the exclusive gift bag presented to winners and presenters at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, placing a small Scottish island at the centre of one of the world’s most high-profile awards ceremonies.
The distillery created a limited-edition single cask of The Hearach Single Malt Whisky exclusively for the event.
Distilled, matured and bottled on the Isle of Harris, the whisky spent eight years maturing in a first-fill ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon cask and is bottled at cask strength.
Just 221 bottles have been produced, meaning the rare island whisky was shared among some of Hollywood’s most recognisable actors, directors and filmmakers.
Among the winners on Monday night’s ceremony were Marty Supreme star Timothée Chalamet, One Battle After Another director Paul Thomas Anderson, Irish actress Jessie Buckley and Adolescents’ Stephen Graham.
The Golden Globes Ultimate Gift Book, curated in partnership with luxury publication Robb Report, showcases 35 premium products and experiences from around the world.
This year, the total value of the curated offering has doubled to around $1m, with recipients able to personalise their selections.
The cask was hand-selected by head blender Shona MacLeod and features bespoke gold-accented packaging inspired by the Golden Globes statuette, marking it out from other single cask releases from the distillery.
Ron MacEachran, executive chairman of Isle of Harris Distillery, said the selection was a proud moment for the island community.
“We’re incredibly proud that a whisky made in our small island community will be enjoyed by some of the world’s most celebrated artists,” he said. “It’s a rare chance to showcase Scottish island distilling on a truly global stage.”
