A pair of hillwalkers who did not have the correct equipment to deal with harsh weather conditions in the Cairngorms have been rescued.
Members of the Cairngorms Mountain Rescue Team were called to their aid around 8.45pm on Tuesday.
The hillwalkers had set off nearly three hours earlier, at 6pm, to climb Ben Macdui.
But rescuers said they did not have appropriate footwear or ice picks, and became trapped in rocky terrain.
They were found in the Goat Track area of Coire an t-Sneachda, and could not safely continue their journey.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team said everyone was safely back to base by 1am on Wednesday.
