Wildlife park celebrates birth of first ever 'adorable' baby vicuna

Keepers at the Highland Wildlife Park have said the female is 'doing well' and will be named shortly.

A baby vicuna, the first ever one born at the Highland Wildlife Park, has been pictured.

According to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, the female, who has yet to be named, is healthy and doing well.

The cria – the term for juvenile vicuna – was born on October 23 to parents Coco and Austria.

The youngster lives with her small herd of five vicuna at the park – her above mentioned parents and siblings Juanita and Ozzy.

Visitors will soon have the chance to spot the newly born animal, native to the Andes of South America, during the drive-through the reserve.

The animals can usually be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru.
