An Inverness doctor has appeared in court charged with causing “fear and alarm” to a woman who was raped by his son.
Dr Andrew McFarlane is alleged to have taken part in a campaign of online abuse directed at Ellie Wilson between October 10, 2023, and October 28, 2025.
The GP’s son, Daniel McFarlane, was convicted of raping Ms Wilson in 2022 and sentenced to five years in jail.
He received two convictions for rape and one for attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The rape survivor, who waived her anonymity, has gone on to campaign for justice reform and for survivors of male sexual violence.
Court appearance
Dr McFarlane appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with stalking. No plea was made and bail was continued until December 23.
The doctor was ordered not to contact or approach Ms Wilson whilst on bail.
It was previously revealed that the General Medical Council launched an investigation of their own into Dr McFarlane, after they were notified of comments allegedly made by the GP.
