Flights have been turned away and cancelled at Stornoway Airport due to bad weather.

Passengers on Loganair flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh faced disruption on Tuesday due to adverse weather in the region.

One flight from Glasgow at 7am was forced to U-turn and head back to the city after circling around the airport on the Isle of Lewis.

Another flight from Edinburgh left the capital at 8.25am before returning after failing to land.

A departure from Stornoway to Inverness was also cancelled, before some flights resumed in the afternoon.

A spokesperson for Highlands and Islands Airports Limited, which runs Stornoway Airport, said: “We can confirm that this morning’s schedule at Stornoway Airport has been impacted by adverse weather.

“Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for travel updates.”
