A fishing boat has made its way safely back to harbour after getting into trouble in rough water off north-west Scotland.
HM Coastguard coordinated a response after the vessel – which had three people on board – started taking on water in The Minch.
The rescue service received a ‘Mayday’ signal just after 1.20pm on Sunday from the vessel which was 15 miles west of Kinlochbervie.
Coastguard has since confirmed water was cleared from the boat and it has safely returned to Stornoway Harbour under escort.
A Lochinver RNLI lifeboat was on scene during the incident, while the Coastguard helicopter from Stornoway transferred a lifeboat pump to the struggling vessel.
Matthew Mace, duty controller for HM Coastguard, said earlier: “Weather conditions are pretty rough but the crew have got the delivered pump working now.
“We need to keep the lifeboat and Coastguard helicopter tasked to this incident to provide further support and in case there is a need to rescue the crew.”
