An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital after his mobility scooter collided with a van in Elgin. 

Police were called to the scene on North Street around 9.45am on Thursday. 

Emergency services attended and the man was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a leg injury. 

The van driver was uninjured in the incident. 

A police spokesperson said: “Around 9.45 am on Thursday May 13 2021, police received a report of an elderly man injured after his mobility scooter collided with a van in North St Elgin.

“Emergency services attended and the elderly man has been taken by SCAA (air ambulance) to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a leg injury.

“The van driver was uninjured.

“The road is currently closed and enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue.”
