A dog was rescued from a 600ft cliff edge in the Highlands by mountain rescuers through her GPS tracking collar.
Chinook, who is described as a “wolfdog”, became separated from her owners and was found stuck on a small ledge near the summit of Am Bodach on Wednesday.
Adam Archibald, her owner Hollie Ivy’s friend, contacted Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, who launched seven-strong rescue team to the aid of the stricken animal.
By following the GPS collar that was attached to Chinook, the team were able to locate her and operated a lower and a haul before walking the dog down the rest of the hill.
The animal was found to be uninjured when she was finally reunited with her worried owners.
A spokesperson for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team said: “GMRT was requested to attend after a dog became separated from its owners and became stuck on a small ledge near the summit of Am Bodach.
“Fortunately the dog’s owners had a GPS tracking device for the dog so it was easily located.
“Team members had to do a lower and then a haul to get the animal into a position where they could walk the thankfully uninjured dog off the hill to be reunited with its owners.”
Hollie described the rescue team as “legends” as she expressed her gratitude. She has since launched a GoFundMe with all the money raised going towards Glencoe Mountain Rescue.
She said: “‘I’m setting this up as a thank you to the men and women who got my girl back to me safe and sound, and to help them have more of what they need to help others …canine or human alike.
“There are no words that express how grateful I am she is back in the passenger seat right next to me today. Legends.”
